Hit concrete after three feet of digging

I moved into my house last year. It's on three acres and has a septic system in the back. The grass on the septic mound is pretty consistently brown, so I assumed the weeping bed was located there.

This spring, I started digging a pond. But while digging tonight, I hit concrete about three feet down in the soil.

I specifically dug the pond far from the septic mound, assuming that the weeping bed wouldn't extend that far.

The house was built in the 90s. This land is zoned agricultural.

Any idea why there is concrete underground? Is this an old septic system? Is there any chance it is connected to the current system? Do I have to start digging a new pond somewhere else on the property (please god say no)?

I originally posted this in the septic tank subreddit, but no one seems to have an answer there so I thought I would see if anyone here had some suggestions.

Hit cement three feet underground

Moved into my house last year. The septic system is directly behind the house and it is in a long mound that extends ~100 feet. I assumed that this was where the weeping bed was under the mound, as the grass in the back half tends to be brown.

I started digging a pond this month. I chose to put it past the aboveground pool, as I figured it was a safe distance from the septic system. Today, I hit cement roughly three feet underground. Would this be an old septic system? Is this somehow part of the weeping bed?

The house was built in the 90s so I guess it could be possible that it is on its second system?

Sleep trouble

I've looked through previous posts related to sleep, but they don't seem to fit my situation, so I thought I'd ask.

I got my sixth concussion in January this year (fell backwards on ice and hit my head). It took roughly six weeks for the symptoms to subside.

Just as the concussion ended in February, I had a family emergency that resulted in a hospitalization and death by the end of March.

When the hospitalization happened, I started having trouble sleeping. I assumed at the time that it was stress. But it's now May, and I am still not sleeping well. I have difficulty falling asleep before 1 or 2 am, despite being tired right up until the point I lie down. And then I wake up at sunrise (5 or 6 am) and am up for the day. I have always been a consistent sleeper and have been good about getting 8 hours/night so this is a big, sustained change.

It only occurred to me this week that maybe this is a post concussion thing, as the final week of my symptoms was the week that the family emergency happened so it might have not just been a stress thing that kicked this off.

Has anyone had a similar issue? Do I bring this to my doctor?

I started digging a pond a couple of weeks ago with the intention of making something deep enough for leopard frogs to overwinter in (a few died in my shallow pond this winter, I did not expect them to try to shelter in 3 inches of water and am pretty upset that it happened).

I was following the advice someone had offered in this sub about taking it slow, shoveling for an hour every other day. And then it rained.

My questions at this point:

  1. do I need a liner? I bought one but I'm starting to think there's more clay in the soil than I originally thought.

  2. the deepest point of this pond is probably around 3 feet. If I can forego a liner, would I still need to dig to a 6 foot depth for leopard frogs to survive the winter or can they dig into the mud?

Also, I should note that the water wasn't that murky originally. I continued digging out what I could today, which is why it looks like a mud puddle.
