Beginner here. I’ve read enough about Nioh 3 to understand that it’s a common mistake for people to go into it assuming that it’ll play similarly to dark souls, Elden Ring, etc.
However, what I’m not understanding, is what the beginner experience is supposed to be like for these games?
This is my first Nioh game I’ve played, and holy fuck… I am miserable!
I’ve played through all dark souls games, Elden Ring, Lies of P, Bloodborne, and Sekiro… And I think Nioh 3 is the least beginner-friendly of all of those. Nothing feels intuitive.
I’ve made it to this boss, Jakotsu-Baba, and I’m finding that I can’t even get started before I’m, well… dead.
I don’t understand how/when to be aggressive, back off, parry (?), use these fucking ninja skills? It’s honestly making me sad because I like the idea of the game, but the mechanical messiness of it is ruining it for me.
Any advice helps! I want to git gud. Genuinely. I just don’t understand what that looks like. Do I dodge? Parry everything? Get a couple hits in and run? Be as aggressive as possible? Is this common for new Nioh players? Am I meant to be miserable?
EDIT: I DID IT! I beat that snaked handed motherfucker. I ended up needing to play much more aggressively and ran circles around J-Baba instead of playing passively and somehow that worked.
