I have super flat feet and have always found Birkenstocks uncomfortable when trying on until recently when I was able to try a set of 42 Mayaris at a local shop. One side had been on display and you could really feel the difference between the side that had been kept in the back. It gave me a 'post break in feeling' check and I decided to go for it!

I went with the 42s after having tried 40 and 41 at other stores. In the shop the 42 seemed right, there was a gap at the back of the heel and around the toes, they were comfy to walk in, I loved how they looked!

I got home and tried them on again and now I am less sure, grateful for others advice.

My main concerns:

- my right foot is about 0.75 size bigger than my left. Especially since breaking my ankle I get a lot more swelling on my right side. I think 42 is the size for my right side, but is my left side drowning? Is too big or too small the lesser of the evils here?

- I wear my toenails long (I cut them short for these photos) looking at the size guide on the box it looks like by my big toe I could go down to a 41, but maybe toes 3, 4, and 5 will be a bit crowded? Is the space at the front meant to be for all toes?
