LIVPURE (THE EMPHASIS LAW OFFICE, demanding payment of ₹30k+) - Rented Livpure RO 2 year ago.
I had used a Livpure RO for over a year in 2023. I had informed them around 15 days in advance over WhatsApp/ phone call that I would be moving out and that they could collect the machine and cancel the subscription. I don’t have an email confirmation for this, but I do have the WhatsApp messages regarding the cancellation request. The pickup agents dont respond to collect the device & I later moved to a different town. New flatmates also tried pinging them for 6months yet no luck :( , so we ignored it.
Now, after 2years, Livpure has suddenly started contacting me, claiming that the device was not returned. I explained that i have been reaching out from longtime & they're not responding, but they asked me for the pickup agent’s contact number—which I no longer have after all this time.
Today, they escalated the matter and sent me a legal notice over email through - THE EMPHASIS LAW OFFICE, demanding payment of ₹30k+ through sms, email. They’re also threatening legal action and mentioning FIRs under multiple sections Under Section 316(2) and 318(4) if I don’t pay - which is making me anxious.
Is this a scam or something to be worried about? will it affect background check in job switch ?
