Finally built my Socket 775 + AGP Computer!!

Finally. I have successfully built my Socket 775 + AGP Computer.

Specs:

- Mainboard: Intel D865GSA

- CPU: Pentium 4 HT 641 (Cedar Mill) 3.2GHz (originally wanted to install a Pentium D, but I changed my mind on it due to power issues)

- RAM: 2GB DDR400 RAM

- GPU: 128MB PNY GeForce 6200 AGP (originally 7600 GT but was too expensive I will try to save money on that)

- HDD: 250GB Western Digital HDD SATA

Interestingly, the Pentium 4 641 was actually a 65W variant (x86 Family F, Model 6, Stepping 5).

When you install Windows ME on a 1999 computer...

This is what happens when you install Windows ME on a 1999-era hardware:

- Chipset: 440BX

- Motherboard: Generic Intel Desktop Board SE440BX-2

- Processor: Pentium III 450MHz

- Sound Card: Creative AudioPCI ES1373

- Network Card: Realtek RTL8139D 10/100 Ethernet

- Graphics Card: Nvidia Riva TNT2 32MB

Interestingly, Windows ME and Windows 2000 shipped with these drivers right out of the box.

Has anyone had any hardware (such as GPU, Sound Card, or any device) from 1998-1999 that shipped with Windows ME or Windows 2000? I mean I know that the GeForce 256 and DDR was shipped in both Windows 2000 and ME that's all I know.

Got this New Old Stock and rare motherboard from Intel model D865GSA on eBay last month. No, I will not install Windows 98 on it so don't ask please, cuz I already did that in the past with Socket 478. I am going to make it only for Windows XP and installing a Pentium D on it.

I just built these two lovely PCs on my own.

Picked up a rare Beige Case from the infamous Tech Deal Warehouse on eBay, plus a Slot 1 Pentium III 450MHz and 440BX motherboard from Intel (SE440BX-2). The Front arrived slightly broken but was able to remove the front panel USB and Audio and fix the front panel with super glue.

For the parts, I went with a Riva TNT2, 3Com Etherlink XL 3c905c for Complete PC Management NIC, and a Creative AudioPCI (wanted to throw in a Sound Blaster Live!) to see how a person from 1999 wanted to do. Dual booted it with Windows 98SE and Windows 2000 Professional SP4.

The Black case on the left is the one I got since Summer of 2024, with a main focus on Multimedia. I chose Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and picked up an Intel D925XCV motherboard (Intel 925X chipset), generally to recreate a true Multimedia PC from 2004-2005. For the parts, I went with a GeForce 6600 GT, Firewire Rear Panel Headers, Card Reader, TV Tuner Card, 56k Modem, and a 802.11n card (at the time 802.11g was around, but I choose this because of better security and WPA2 support. Currently has Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
