Is using the same assist 2 times in 1 combo normal in tag fighters?

Stole Sonicfox combo and realized you can actually use Robot assist to help open someone up/keep you safe and then use Robot assist again during the combo. Is that normal in tag fighters?

Last time I played a tag fighter was Bardock release on DBFZ so I can't remember how assist felt or if I'm just tripping and the cool downs are supposed to be this fast
