How to switch from BDS to a non clinical career?
Hi everyone,
I’m a BDS graduate from the 2025 batch. After graduation, I took a drop year for NEET MDS, but after giving the exam and reflecting on this past year, I’ve realized that I may not be genuinely interested in the clinical side of dentistry anymore.
I’ve started looking into non-clinical career options where I can still use my medical/dental background but with:
- better growth and pay,
- more stability,
- less saturation,
- and possibly remote or flexible work opportunities.
Honestly, I feel very stressed and lost right now. Even finding a decent job after BDS feels difficult, and I’m confused about what direction to take next.
I’d really appreciate guidance from people who:
- switched from BDS to non-clinical fields,
- found better career alternatives,
- moved abroad,
- or discovered paths with good future scope.
What fields/courses/skills would actually be worth exploring right now?
Also realistically, is leaving clinical dentistry after BDS a bad decision in today’s scenario?
