I’m curious if anybody has any suggestions or thoughts on my situation.
I started Invisalign about three years ago. I made it all the way through two years of trays, despite struggling with severe depression. Some of my initial concerns with my teeth did improve, but there are still some adjustments to be made (Ideally). I thought I would have made more progress in that two-year timeframe. During the two year period I was wearing the trays, I developed a chronic gastrointestinal disease, and my pancreas started failing. This has caused a major shift in my life, especially in regards to eating. I have to take medicine every time I eat even with a snack and manage my blood sugar. Around the two year mark, I had to move and I’m now a 6 Hour drive from my original orthodontist. I tried to explain my situation and wanted more trays to be mailed to me, they sent some but still require in person visits. Frankly, with my medical conditions, driving six hours for an appointment is just not feasible. So after two years of wearing trays and seeing some progress, I quit wearing them.
It’s now been about a year without the trays, and surprisingly, my teeth have not shifted much. I still have the attachments and have the option to get them removed by a local dentist.
Most of me wants to get the trays removed and be done with this once and for all.
I saw a post where somebody mentioned only wearing the trays at night, and a small part of me wonders if this would be an option for me. I fear I would have to start all over again with payments to a new provider who is local to me. But maybe I should ask and explore that option before I quit completely for good?
Wearing them during the day is realistically not gonna happen for me. I wish I had just done metal braces to start with.
