My girlfriend is extremely to me and to everyone else and I just don’t really know how to handle that. She told me she can be pretty mean on her period when we first started dating which personally I can handle because I grew up around a lot of people with anger issues so when she gets mad it really doesnt affect me that much because Its nowhere near as bad as my family is. However, as we’ve dated longer it’s become really bad. She gets mad if I say anything at all negative, she threatens to break up if we lose in a video game, and it doesn’t really go both ways because if I or anyone else says anything to her even SLIGHTLY negative she acts like they’re way out of line and gets mad. Honestly this is all manageable for me because as I’ve said, I can handle anger issues, but I think my bigger issue is the way she treats everyone else.
She texted me earlier today “I just cussed out my friend” and I assumed she had some sort of reason, but all that happened was an interaction with her BEST FRIEND who was trying to vent his feelings to her about hooking up with a guy, and she got mad that he didn’t tell her that he was talking to someone and that she ended up getting really homophobic and just mean for no reason. I felt really bad for him because she clearly had no reason to be so mean and I told her she should maybe apologize to him and she just got mad at me for “defending him and not [her.]”
Im at the point where I’m debating breaking up with her but my problem is that I really do care about her and she’s going through a lot right now. On the other hand I obviously can’t have a mature talk with her about the way she treats me and everyone else because she’ll just get mad and ignore me. What do you think I should do?
EDIT: I broke up with her. Well, I more just let her break up with me since I just didn’t back down on the friend topic. She’s gonna text me later saying she didn’t mean it but I’m just going to block her. Thank you for the responses everyone I really appreciate you all
