Millennial parents of SG, what's it like raising a kid here?

Millennial parents of SG, I'm genuinely curious to hear about your parenting experience in Singapore. We can all agree that Singapore is a REALLY TOUGH place to raise kids. There are pressures from all fronts...cost of living, the rat race, pressures for tuition/enrichment, academic stress (let's b real students in SG are a lot more stressed out than students in other countries), screens everywhere etc. etc. etc.

All we want is for our kids to have a simple childhood for them to grow up as honest, grounded, resilient individuals. Kids raised in love and trust, not in fear and stress.

My kid just turned 4, and honestly it's been really hard to juggle the pressures and what I believe is right as a parent. I guess I'm just curious to hear from the online community, if anyone is feeling the same way I am?

  • What's really hard about raising your kid right now? What are some things that you have given in to and find that it was actually worked out/beneficial? What are your hard no's?
  • What is your way of building relationship with your kids? Personally we take walks on the rail corridor, try small projects together like building an herb garden
  • What do you wish existed that doesn't?
  • What's the best advice you have received about parenting? I need some mantras to keep me going!

ok end of monologue, thanks for reading till the end.

PS: it's my first time posting, please give chance!
