The Smash Factor: Day 27

Day 26 of Smash Factor has come and gone! As a couple judges comments would have mentioned yesterday was a bit of a weird day at first-The submission quality was great for the most part-There were a couple that could use improvements and another that DEFFO needed more of a case *Cough* *Cough* Mr Game and Watch *Cough* Cough* But we weren't really sold on any of the characters themselves-a lot of them we could definitely come back to for sure but they didn't really add anything that we felt was missing from the roster-Until Pythra got submitted that is. Pythra was almost a landslide sweep with the judges-funnily enough the one submission that stopped it from being a unanimous vote was JC's other submission of Rayman.

Pythra added a couple things that the roster needed-The first was a new Xenoblade Rep, we haven't had one since Day 3, and while there are other series that are in more dire need of an additional rep it was about time Xenoblade got its 2nd rep too. The other was that there aren't a lot of female fighters on the roster. We had 7 so far-9 counting Byleth and Inkling who are both a Male and Female fighter. So Pyra & Mythra added some much needed girl power to the roster! They're also just a great veteran pick in general so those reasons and more were why 4/5 of the judges decided to choose them as the most recent addition to the roster!

Now lets move onto the rules!

The rules for Smash Factor are pretty simple-Characters you submit must be eligible for Smash-They have to be Video Game Franchises and the character has to have appeared in a Video Game (E.g. no Android 21 from DBZ Fighterz and none of the Sonic Comic characters who've never appeared in a game).

Tell us IN DETAIL why we should pick your character! Even if it's a character that you think speaks for themselves on why they should be added imagine these are the characters auditioning to Sakurai trying to persuade him to add them to the game, we want to see you build a case for your character on why they deserve to be in Smash 6 and convince us that your choice is the one that were should go with here and now. We will very likely ignore any submission that doesn't have any/good enough reasoning in their submission in favor of someone whose made more of an argument for their pick. If you've noticed that your pick hasn't been chosen by any of the judges maybe see if you can make a stronger case for them when you resubmit them? The difference could be what pushes us to decide to pick your submission over someone else's.

You get 2 submissions per day! Put them in 2 different comments and give a separate argument for each but you are allowed to submit 2 characters every day for the roster!

Me and the rest of the Judges can't make any submissions, all we can do is discuss and vote on the characters you've all picked-Though we may decide on a Theme for a day if we feel like the roster is in desperate need of something or we may choose to skip a day/ choose a character between ourselves if there's Slim Pickens when it comes to the characters that are submitted.

That's everything from me so without further ado, let Day 27 of Smash Factor begin!

The Smash Factor: Day 26

Wow would you look at that! Not 1, not 2 not even 3! But 5 characters have joined Smash Factor after yesterdays Easter Special!

I think we were initially planning on adding 3 characters for Easter but since we had to catch up with Day 24 due to the 5-Way Deadlock that meant we'd have to add 4 characters rather than 3 and at that point we might as well finish the row and add 5.

So then lemme go through all the winners one at a time! The voting process was very different this time around to account for us choosing 5 characters rather than just 1 so lemme go through each of the characters in order. P.S reminder we were choosing from both Day 24 and Day 25s submissions due to the 5-Way Deadlock.

  1. Bandana Dee: To begin with all the judges did a Top 5 just to gauge how we felt on all the submissions, Bandana Dee was picked by 4/5 Judges and placed in the top 3 picks for all 4 of those judges so they felt like a no brainer for the first slot.

  2. All 5 judges had picked 1 or multiple 3rd party newcomers in their top 5, we had some debate over how many 3rd party newcomers to pick since there can only be so many in the base roster and we're still just over halfway through the roster. We almost added a 2nd later on and considered the possibility of adding all 3 right now but in the end we ranked the 3 3rd party newcomers that we'd chosen and Shovel Knight ended up getting the W out of the 3 for the second slot.

  3. Besides the 3rd party newcomers Byleth was the most constant pick in everyone's top 5s, making it into 3/5 Judges Top 5's placing 2nd once and 3rd twice which gave Byleth the win.

  4. The next 2 picks were more of a discussion round rather then using the top 5 picks as a metric. A couple of us thought a first party newcomer and a first party veteran was the way to go, a few said Rayman and Dragaux and a few said Layton and Dragaux. Dragaux ended up being the only constant choice between everyone though so the 4th of yesterday's picks went to Dragaux.

  5. Finally this was the hardest choice-We all discussed who we thought the last slot should go to, Daisy was even preferred over Bowser Jr by a few judges-But Bowser Jr was more of a constant pick so we ended up going with Jr for the final slot in the row!

Phew, that was a LOT, now then let's move on to the rules again.

The Smash Factor: Day 25-EASTER SPECIAL!

Day 24 has come and gone and the winner is....nobody! That's right we didn't pick anyone yesterday! But it's not because we didn't like your submissions or anything...b-bakas! We actually had a 5 way tie with our Judges votes 😂

The tie was between Wolf, Shovel Knight, Rayman, Bowser Jr and Dragaux! But instead of doing a community vote deadlock like we'd normally do we were thinking of doing something special for Easter anyway so today we'll be picking multiple characters from both today and yesterday's submissions!

That means to everyone who submitted a character yesterday you do not need to submit those characters again today even if they weren't included in yesterday's tie as I said we're picking multiple submissions today so we may end up picking them still. This is your chance to submit some new characters that maybe you hadn't got around to submitting yet while you were focused on other candidates-you can also submit 3 characters today rather than the usual 2 so go ham! I'd love to see all the new and returning characters that you'll all submit today!

That's everything from me so without further ado, let The Easter Special Commence! Happy Easter everyone! 🐣
