i wanna create like a more dramatic atmosphere(this guy here is linked to war) but idk how

should i make the colours of the earthmover more dark for contrast or tone down the hue shifting? i would really appreciate it if someone told me how to fix my art thxxxxxxxx

any ideas on how i could improve on the shading? my reference had none so i had to make my own not so sure if it's accurate though.

anyone have tips on how to make the colours of my pixel art less bright while keeping the "cartoony and cute" style? the entire thing hurts my eyes i'm not sure why i'm guessing the colours are too bright but idk how to fix that. if anyone could tell me how to fix this sprite than thx very much
