Where can I get my news from if I don't like watching free to air TV?

I don't watch 7news. I don't watch 9news. I don't watch fricking Sunrise.

It's been a while since I've watched free to air TV... and because of that I am way behind in the news. Like, the last major news I know about is that under 16 social media ban.

Are there any other Aussies who don't watch free to air TV, but still gets their news from somewhere? If so, what is it? I don't want to get my news from social media by the way because we all know that social media can be very unreliable for getting your news.

Several questions about being a school teacher in the United States

What's it like teaching in the US? How's the salary? What are the requirements to become a teacher in America? Do you guys have a mandatory Working with Children Check (WWCC) like Australia has?

How to know if Hollandaise sauce is properly cooked?

I made eggs benedict this morning for breakfast... and I am wondering how you can tell if the sauce is cooked. Like, the texture of my hollandaise looked thick... wasn't runny at all.

And I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but when I spooned the hollandaise onto my eggs benedict, the emulsion kinda broke and it ended up looking kinda buttery... Still tastes fine, but presentation-wise, it didn't look that great.

I'm currently 17, but I turn 18 in a few months and in this country voting is compulsory... so I wanted to learn more about my country's politics and how the elections work.

Like, I am very chronically online so I know a lot about US politics even though I'm not from the United States.

Also, do you have to vote during election time or can you just get your name marked off and not vote for anyone?

I'm currently in Year 12, and I am thinking of becoming an electrician after school. However, I wanted to ask some electricians first before I make my final decision.

From what I know, this industry is physically demanding and obviously it isn't for everyone... so I would like to know what it is like before I step foot into this industry as a sparky.
