I go to a semi-competitive school in an uncompetitive state. At my school, ~25 kids are aiming for top schools, and maybe ~200–250 in the whole city. Rigor is basically the same for everyone, and most of the top kids end up with 0-1 B total.
I’m a sophomore. I got 2 Bs freshman year (language + geometry), and I’m probably ending with another B this year from AP Music 😔
How bad is this for top schools? Could something like a 35 ACT offset it?
For context: I got a high A in the language pt2 class this year and plan to go through AP, and geometry feels like a fluke since I’ve aced Alg 2 and AP Precalc. I’ll be taking Calc AB/BC junior year and Stats or DE math senior year.
Also, my school adds +4 points to AP class grades each quarter (and it shows on the transcript). Do colleges recalculate that? Like, could an A turn into a B if they remove the boost?
I’ve heard some colleges don’t really consider freshman year, is that true🙏? And if they don’t look at individual courses beyond rigor checklist , does an upward trend even matter?
Given that my Bs are either upward trend or non-core, how much will this actually hurt me
Plzzz lmk how cooked I am , I’m literally dying😫😫😫
