Hello ROG Community,
I am reaching out to verify some power readings on my new build featuring an RTX 5090 Astral and an Asus ROG Strix 1200W platinum Edition PSU.
The Issue:
Initially, I was receiving an Overvoltage alarm (Red indicator) on my power monitoring software. After troubleshooting, I disconnected and re-seated the 12VHPWR cable, ensuring it was fully clicked in and flush with the GPU header.
Current Status:
The good news is the alarm has disappeared, and all pins are now showing a Green status. I ran a FurMark stress test (4K, Fullscreen) for over 8 minutes, and the card reached its full power draw of 601W with stable temperatures (GPU: 66°C / VRAM: 70°C).
My Concern:
While everything seems stable, I noticed an imbalance in the amperage across the pins during the stress test:
• Pins 1, 3, 4, 5, 6: Ranging between 8.2A and 9.0A.
• Pin 2: Consistently lower, hovering around 5.9A to 6.2A.
Questions:

  1. Is this level of amperage variance (specifically on Pin 2) normal for the 5090 Astral under full load?
  2. Since all indicators are green and the total power draw is 600W+, is this something I should be worried about, or is it just how the internal VRMs distribute the load?
I have a WireView Pro II on the way to get even more precise hardware-level readings, but I would appreciate any insight from the community or ROG experts in the meantime.
    System Specs for Context:
    • GPU: Asus RTX 5090 Astral OC
    • PSU: Asus ROG Strix 1200W
    • MB: Asus Z790 BTF
    • CPU: Intel i7-14700K
    Thanks in advance!
