Taking father back to court
My child is about to turn 7 and hasn’t seen their dad in about 2–3 years. He filed for court when our child was around 3, but since 2022 we haven’t seen or heard from him at all. At this point, he’s about $11k behind in child support.
I’m planning to take him back to court to enforce the child support and possibly address the lack of involvement. I fully take care of my child—stable home, bills paid, everything they need, no safety concerns.
My only worry is that I do smoke weed (never around my child), and I’m wondering if that could somehow be used against me if he tries to flip things or retaliate in court.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or know how courts typically handle this?
