I got coached last night for an incident that occurred while I was not in the building/off the clock for my lunch. I work in TBC, essentially there was a car that was getting a tire rotation and balance with a flat repair. Associate #1 and I started the service, rotated the tires, balanced them and checked for the flat. The flat was not repairable but under warranty. So we told our service advisor to contact the member. The member did not answer any phone calls, and they dropped off their car so we could not contact them. Therefore, we left the car in the air because we need their approval before continuing. 2 hours go by, the member has still not answered any calls and It was time for me to head to lunch. I asked associate #2 if we should just put the wheel back on and finish up the car to get it out of the shop but he said no because it wasnt in the way and it'll take more time to get the car lifted again than it is to leave it where it is. So I went to lunch, when I returned, the car was gone. Ultimately, it turns out that associate #2 and #3 put the wheel back on the car and did not torque or perform a quality check on the lug nuts, which resulted in loose lug nuts.
I received a coaching for this incident. The reasons where: 1. The tire rotate was not performed (it absolutely was, the member claimed it wasnt and the manager didnt bother to look) 2. I was on my phone while the car was in the bay, which resulted in the lug nuts not being torqued (me being on my phone had nothing to do with the other 2 associates not checking the lug nuts) 3. I did not follow procedure and performing the quality check on the lug nuts (I was off the clock and not in the building when the other 2 associates lowered and pulled the car out, so how would I possibly be able to do that). To add to this, the manager who coached me, told a different associate a week ago that she would be coaching me, who then told me. I dont believe shes able to speak to other associates about disciplinary actions, but i could be wrong. To top it all off, I received an orange level because the manager stated I had a previous coaching. That is also false, and when I told her that, she argued saying I was wrong. I of course told her no again, and she quickly pulled up my previous coaching, only to find out that I was right. She turned to the CPU lead (witness?) And said "i messed up, how did i give him an orange not a yellow?" Then turned to me and said "well you shouldve gotten a red. So be thankful that im being nice for giving you an orange. But ill see if I can change it to a yellow later." I then asked her if she will be giving the other 3 associates an orange too, she responded with "im going to try and lower it to yellow, we'll go from there".
Do I have a case to bring up to the club manager or to open door to fight this coaching? Or is this fair?
