LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
Up to 15,000 CZK in the Czech Republic, but I would prefer to stay closer to 10,000 CZK if possible.

Are you open to refurbs/used?
Not really.

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

  1. Performance
  2. Battery life
  3. Build quality
  4. Form factor

How important is weight and thinness to you?
Fairly important. I will carry it to university every day, so lighter is better, but it does not need to be ultra-thin.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
Around 15–16 inches.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Mainly programming for university, especially in JetBrains IDEs (IntelliJ IDEA / PyCharm / similar). I also plan to install Linux.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Not a priority.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Good keyboard, reliable build quality, decent battery life, and Linux compatibility would be appreciated. No touchscreen needed.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I am a student in the Czech Republic looking for a laptop for university programming work. I want something with good value for money that can handle JetBrains IDEs well under Linux.

The three models I found are:

  • Acer Aspire 15 A15-61M-R3KV
  • HP 255R G10 CH7D0AT#BCM
  • ASUS ExpertBook B5 B5605CVA-MB0334

I am mainly trying to decide which one offers the best balance of performance, battery life, and price for programming and everyday school use. Any recommendations or alternatives available in the Czech Republic would be welcome.
