I’ve been setting up some websites recently and buying domains, which got me wondering. When I pay a registrar for a .com address, who are they paying? Is there some master organization that owns the rights to every possible word combination, or are registrars just charging for the service of putting my name in a global database?

I used to buy this old dude outside the corner store a plate of food every friday after work
one night i parked my car there and forgot my windows were cracked open 😭
came back hours later and this man was sitting in a lawn chair next to my car like security personnel says “2 dudes tried peeking in earlier so i told them this one belong to my cousin” 😭
we are not related but i appreciate your service heavily
Why can't I join in on a couple's argument in public if I have a good point to make?
She filed her H1B extension months ago. Got laid off before it was approved. Had days to figure out her entire life. One of the things that made it worse she couldn't get a consulate appointment anywhere. Slots were gone before she could click. I built visaslot.live because I watched someone I care about go through something no one should face alone. It's free. Community powered. You report what you see when you check a portal, slot or no slot. Everyone benefits. If you've been through this or you're
going through it right now this is for you. visaslot.live
I noticed a lot of people here are constantly asking when slots open or sharing tips like “check at 3am” etc.
What if we just shared that info in one place?
I made a simple page where anyone can report when they see a slot available: visaslot.live
No signup or anything. Just trying to make this process a bit less stressful for everyone.
