Problem/Goal: I am seeking guidance and insights from students or alumni who have gone through the transfer process or are familiar with Ateneo de Manila University's policies, as I don't have anyone in my personal life to ask. Specifically, I need guidance on how the university evaluates transfer applicants with a history of dropped subjects and failing marks, and how the financial aid process works for continuing students with a difficult past academic record.

Context: It has always been my dream to study at ADMU, but my parents did not let me take the ACET during high school because they thought the tuition was too expensive. My parents have a very authoritarian style and require rigorous justification for my academic and career choices. Because I was forced to study a program at my previous university that I didn't want, the experience took a heavy toll on me and resulted in a difficult academic record. I eventually decided to drop out, and my mother is against this and does not support my decision to take a gap year because nothing is assured. Despite her objections, I am planning to take a gap year to work and do something productive to build my skills and experience. I am fully aware of the risks and my circumstances, so I am not looking for reality checks or lectures; I already know the situation. I am aware that other schools are good options, but my focus and heart are entirely on ADMU, and I already have a backup plan in place.

Previous Attempts: I have already emailed the Office of Admission and Aid (OAA) regarding these specific policies and learned that they do not grant scholarships to students with multiple failing marks upon entry. I also understand that the admission process requires an application, the ACET, and potentially an interview, but I want to hear from actual people who have navigated these specific circumstances or can guide me through the process.

I would greatly appreciate any insights on a few key points (You do not have to answer these if it seems too much or simply cannot answer these):

Will I be automatically blocked from taking the ACET or denied admission because of my past college transcript, or does the Admissions Committee evaluate transfer applications holistically, relying heavily on the ACET score and the personal essay?

Is an interview with the Admissions Committee or the relevant Department Chair a standard requirement for transfer applicants in this situation?

Regarding financial aid, I reached out to the OAA and was informed that they do not grant scholarships to students with multiple failing marks upon entry. If I am admitted and complete my first semester at ADMU with excellent grades, would I still be allowed to apply for financial aid as a continuing student?
