I think I found one of the few flaws this vehicle has. I live in Colorado and a few weeks ago we had spurts of heavy rain mixed with a little drizzle. Then today we experienced some wet snow that has pretty much melted same day. On both occasions my cruise control shut down on the freeway.
I believe this is a result of a very nice version of adaptive cruise control with highway assist (Hybrid SXP). It relies heavily on the front sensors which became blocked due to the weather. I had this system on my '23 Sorento and rarely had this problem. I think the boxy nature of the Telluride makes it more prone to blocked sensors.
It sucks because it all shuts down. Not just the adaptive and the HDA2 but even the basic cruise control features. I presume it is a safety thing not to merely step down to basic cruise when someone might think it was still adaptive. Nonetheless, it gets pissy much faster than my Sorento ever did. Not many flaws but it would be nice if the software could be improved to at least step down to caveman cruise.
