Design doesn’t matter if the quality isn’t there

There’s something about good fabric and solid construction that makes everything else feel secondary now when I shop for clothes. If that foundation isn’t there, the design doesn’t really matter as much to me anymore. Curious if anyone else shops like this too.

I changed how I shop for clothes what’s your rule when buying?

I’ve recently changed the way I shop for clothes. I used to go straight by how something looked on the hanger or mannequin, but now I do things in a different order. The first thing I check is fabric and construction how it’s made, how it feels, and whether it seems like it will hold up over time. If it doesn’t pass that stage, I don’t even try it on, no matter how cute it looks. It’s made shopping more intentional for me, but also more limited since fewer pieces meet both the design and quality I want. I’m curious what’s your personal rule when you shop for clothes?

Do you think fabric quality matters more than design now?

I’ve noticed I’ve started caring less about trends and more about how clothes feel cotton, linen, breathable materials, etc. Even simple designs feel “better” when the fabric is right. Do you guys prioritize comfort/fabric or design/looks when buying clothes?

Why do you think simple and minimalist outfits are becoming more popular now?

It feels like people are leaning more toward clean, effortless looks instead of overly complicated outfits. I’m curious if it’s more about comfort, aesthetics, or just changing trends. Do you prefer simple styling or more detailed outfits?

Why do you think fashion has become so much more relaxed in recent years?

Between oversized silhouettes, sneakers everywhere, and casual styling even in semi-formal settings, it feels like ‘effortless comfort’ has become the default. I get that lifestyle changes play a role, but I’m curious if people actually prefer this or if we just adapted to what brands are pushing.

Is comfort winning over structure in fashion right now?

Oversized outfits seem way more common lately compared to fitted ones. Is it purely about comfort, or is there more to why people are choosing looser silhouettes?

I’ve noticed a lot of people building wardrobes around basics instead of statement clothes lately. Like mixing and matching simple pieces instead of buying bold items. What do you think makes an outfit feel complete nowadays?

I’ve been noticing that oversized shirts have kind of taken over fitted ones in everyday fashion. Not just in streetwear, but even in basic casual outfits. What do you think caused this shift—comfort, body image, styling trends, or just social media influence? Curious what people actually prefer and why.

Has anyone bought graphic shirts from online stores recently? I keep seeing so many nice designs, but I’m curious if they’re actually worth it. Do they stay good after multiple washes or are they more for aesthetic/photos only?

I’ve been seeing a lot of online shops lately that sell printed or graphic clothing, and I’ve been wondering how they actually hold up in real life. The designs always look nice in photos, but I’m curious about things like fabric quality, comfort, and how long the prints last after washing. For anyone who’s tried buying from these kinds of stores before, how was your experience? Are they usually worth it or more for looks only?

Been seeing more minimal quote pieces lately and some of them are actually done really well. This is the kind of design that actually makes me consider picking one up.

Lately I’ve been drawn to more simple clothing designs, especially ones with small text or short phrases. But I’m not sure if it comes across as stylish or just basic. Curious how other people see it.
