Called the VA education center and was told “unofficially” the VA disapproved the ICE apprenticeship program in June 2024 and that ICE does not have a current, approved, program for VA educational benefits. He was also not able to provide me with a POC internally that I could reach out to in order to verify the status.
So using the VA website and the search bar here, I was able to find a few things about the VA program for ICE.
1.) The VA school finding tool website lists ICE, specifically the Criminal Investigator program as being certified and approved. No link since it’s behind a verification wall.
2.) A Reddit post 2y ago from boxing_leprechaun (https://www.reddit.com/r/1811/comments/1fxkc8o/gi\_bill\_liquidate\_or\_hold/) shows it was not approved at that time, but ICE was in the process of renewing it.
3.) A Reddit post 5mo ago from USMC-0402 (https://www.reddit.com/r/1811/comments/1p4ruo6/hsi\_ojt/) shows that many folks may have used the benefits recently, hinting towards the program actually being certified.
Obviously going to work here inside the office to try and find a good POC, but in the meantime has anyone had success with using HSI OJT recently? Within the last 2 years or within the last 6-12 months?
