Kindness
I got a broken tooth pulled today, and I wasn't going to try to get it fixed because I don't have dental coverage nor the cash to get the work done.
During the freezing process, I had my little panic attack, as I do, because needles are the bane of my existence. I truly can't handle them, and I was sweating and shaking by the end of it. The dentist was calming and talked me down and made me feel better. One of the comments he made was, "Dentist visits kinda suck," to which I replied, "No, not having the money to fix my tooth sucks; being here is just fine." So he asked me if I wanted to get it fixed. I told him I had no money for it. He said, "I know, do you want me to try and fix it?"
So, part way through him going through the process of fixing my tooth, he told me the bad news. My tooth was split down the middle, and it had to be extracted.
Now, I was pretty upset over not being able to get coverage and not being able to try and save my tooth. But this man really made me feel good, and even though I ended up with one less tooth, this guy deserves some good karma, and maybe a bottle of Scotch.
