my (white) best friend appropriates a lot of Black culture. she grew up very rich in a rich town with majority white people so i know that's not how she was raised. i pointed out to her that she was using aave and she got defensive saying they are infinitives. i love her but sometimes she goes too far with the appropriation and it's starting to really bother me. she's been called out before by other Black friends and seems to not have any self reflection. they have taken steps back from their friendship with her bc of this and i'd hate to be another but i don't like being dismissed and gaslit. am i overreacting?
