Thinking of switching to IT

Hello, I’m 47 and trying to get into IT. I’ve been working in a construction office for 20 years and want to do IT consulting on my own. Took my CompTia Network + and I’m now stuck without knowing how to continue. What will be the next best certification to pursue or best path to keep moving with this idea of becoming IT consultant, I’m thinking of working with small businesses, help them maintain their computers and networks, thank you!

Hi everybody, I’m just starting setting up a home lab virtual machine running windows server on VMware. I need to assign static IP to my VM so I can properly run everything. I’m setting the VM network adapter to bridge mode. And I’m also reserving an IP address on my Asus Router. But I can’t connect to the internet nor do I get any network connection. My host laptop is connected wireless to the Asus router. Any ideas what could I try to make it work? Thanks!
