Hey y’all, so I’ve been doing one man multitrack covers on my YouTube for ages now and have had this one on my short list since nearly the beginning. With all my other covers I usually opt to try and dissect complex studio arrangements and try to get the original parts as note-for-note as possible. However it dawned on me that that approach makes no sense for a jam band classic, so I decided to go the polar opposite approach here: Get everything as close to a single take as possible and react/improv off of the other tracks as I build it.
I borrowed quite a bit from the studio version and a few live ideas, but once I hit the main solos I’m trying to really just approach it the way I play and not necessarily try to imitate any particular member’s style (although there a few things that inadvertently creeped out of a decade + of pure influence on my playing).
Just thought this would be the place to launch it and y’all would either dig it or heavily critique (or a nice mix of both hopefully). Anyway, happy Sphere week 2 and really hoping this one makes it into rotation at some point the next few nights!
