reminder, what I’m saying doesn’t involve everyone & people could just not like the album

Since Whole Lotta Red was initially a heavily criticized turned revolutionary album, the people who originally hated on WLR/ became a fan after WLR became liked (nothing wrong with this) now wanted to be the first ones to like the next album (MUSIC) as a fear of missing out

Since MUSIC isn’t subgenre defining like WLR, there’s nothing those fans have to defend about which the fans that originally wanted to be “ahead of the curve” now feel let down because there’s nothing to defend

Another thing to add is about the WLR DELUXE/ grail tape

As soon when MUSIC dropped, there was so many people spreading that there was a grail tape was coming (nothing was coming, it was just people being delusional)

This is important because the grail tape delusion switched towards the WLR Deluxe (also delusion filled)

The main thing I’ve heard from the WLR Deluxe talks was people saying how the “deluxe” now is going to be hated & how it’s not going to be liked from the majority almost like they want it to be hated

(even though wlr era Carti is hugely liked now compared to how it was 5-6 years ago + a lot of early wlr snippets & tracks are already pretty liked now)

It’s very interesting seeing all the voice changes throughout the years

The range of it is crazy to going from the highest being that one pitched up whisper vocal snippet with the lowest being the “Future” deep voice

Even in the times where I’ve heard people say “Carti has only done one deep voice” (2025-2026), Carti has done around 5 different voices then

MUSIC itself is also a great showcase of showing a variety of different voices

Side note, it was so funny seeing people say “Carti could only do deep voice because he isn’t able to no more” when it wasn’t even true back in 2025

- A couple tracks that people hates on after it released with some of the songs even getting called “mainstream mandated”, it was originally well received before it released with some people even saying how they wanted it on the album in the first place

(e.g Crush, Mojo Jojo, Radar (it’s starting to get loved again), Rather Lie (there’s good reasons), Backdoor, Wake Up filthy, Trim, & I Seeeeee You Baby Boi (starting to get love now again))

- Despite us knowing that the album name was inspired by LIl Wayne since 2023, it didn’t take people until After MUSIC dropped (2025) for people to start complaining about Carti being a “Lil Wayne clone”

Being Inspired ≠ clone

(This was around the time where Carti was performing in so many afterparties & performing jn that tour with The Weeknd so people was already mad that Carti was too “out there” & not mysterious. It was also during the time where the cave era tracks really started surfacing)

(Also reminder when Carti really started wearing clothes that were more tied to ‘00s ATL around 2024-2025, so many fans were copying him & started to wear those jerseys because of him)

- Despite the hate for the “Future” deep voiced tracks on BABYBOI, the “Future” deep voiced tracks on MUSIC are mostly well recieved (JUMPIN, TOXIC, OVERLY, WALK, DiS 1 GOT IT(this one been kinda slowing down though))

(Walk & Jumpin had a slow start then people started liking it while, Dis 1 Got It was decently liked for a while then it started to slowly dip, Toxic was generally liked with the main hate going towards Skepta then Carti, Overly been overall liked since release)
