I’m having very sporadic system freezes while gaming on my PC and I’m trying to figure out whether this is a GPU driver, stability, or hardware issue.

System

• GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT
• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
• RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000 EXPO enabled
• Small form factor build: FormD T1 v2.1
• Windows 11

Symptoms

• During gaming, the entire screen freezes randomly and/or goes black
• Audio cuts out briefly
• Sometimes the system recovers after ~10–20 seconds
• Sometimes I need to hard reset the PC or it reboots by itself
• No BSOD

What I already tried

• Disabled:
  • Xbox Game Bar
  • Windows overlays
  • Chrome hardware acceleration
  • Edge hardware acceleration
  • AMD overlays
  • Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling
  • Fast Startup
• Updated/tuned GPU settings in AMD Adrenalin:
  • Min freq: 1900 MHz
  • Max freq: 2650 MHz
  • Voltage: tested 1050–1075 mV undervolt
• Using Fan Control for all fan curves
• Temps seem fine:
  • GPU ~62°C while gaming
  • Hotspot reasonable
  • CPU temps also fine - ~70°C under load, ~50°C when idle.
• I also reduced my EXPO/RAM settings from the original profile as part of troubleshooting possible instability

Important detail

The freezes are VERY inconsistent/sporadic:

• Sometimes fine for hours
• Sometimes a freeze happens seemingly randomly

Has anyone with a 7900 XT experienced similar random freezes / driver hangs without BSOD? Especially temporary frozen screen recovery or random hard locks during gaming?

I do have quite some experience building computers, but I've never had this issue before when I built other computers. Any help appreciated as this drives me crazy.
