Valve Index Controller Tracking using third party dongle!
I’m not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I need help! - Also, “Reddit Filters” removed my post from ValveIndex.
My setup:
Virtual Desktop
Quest Pro
Vive Base Station 2.0 (x3)
Vive Tracker 3.0 (x7)
Valve Index Controllers
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
AMD Ryzen 5 5500
I’m having tracking problems with my Index controllers when using my Quest Pro. The controllers randomly jitter or lose tracking for a moment, and sometimes briefly disconnect. This started after I stopped using my Index headset as the receiver and switched to using Watchman Dongles from VRDongles.com instead. I have three base stations and good visibility, so I don’t think it’s a tracking coverage issue. I tested with a very simple setup (no extra programs), and the problem still happens. I also reduced my setup to just the two controllers and one tracker, but it didn’t fix it. When I switched which controller was paired to which dongle, the problem followed the dongle instead of the controller. Then when I moved the dongles to different USB ports, both controllers started having issues. Other devices like my Quest Pro connection work fine. I’ve also updated all drivers and reset SteamVR USB devices. At this point, it seems like the issue is related to the dongles or USB ports rather than the controllers, base stations, or performance. Am I overlooking something? Maybe it’s the hardware of the dongle itself?
