Sensitivity and "waking up" nerves 4 months post-op? (Jan surgery)

I had my gyno surgery back in January. Overall, everything went great, though I did experience some cratering/indentation initially. I was prepared for that possibility, so I wasn't too worried.

For a long time after the procedure, my nipple and the surrounding skin were almost completely numb. However, over the last month or so, sensation has started to return—but it’s more of a discomfort or hypersensitivity. Even light touch or something like my child accidentally resting a leg on my chest can feel quite unpleasant.

A few observations:

The "Crater": The indentation is actually starting to fill out and look better.

Texture: It feels a bit hard directly under the nipple. I’ve been assuming this is just scar tissue from the incision site.

No Lumps: I haven’t felt any distinct new lumps or bumps that suggest regrowth.

Naturally, I’m a bit anxious about whether something is "growing back," even though there’s no clear mass.

My question is: Is this just the body "settling" and the nerves finally waking up/reconnecting after months of numbness? Or is this level of new discomfort something I should actually be concerned about?

Has anyone else experienced this "delayed" sensitivity months after being numb?
