I have been helping network dogs to rescues for my local municipal shelter for a little while now. It has been an uphill battle to say the least… We seem to be having more luck with the “purebred”(ish) dogs. We are deeply struggling with Bully mixes. We have one amazing group that ensures every dog gets a fighting chance, but I want to expand our network and lessen the load on them.
Does anyone know of any good rescues that take bully breed mixes in/around NC? Or really anywhere— we can do our best to make transport work. I have a long mailing list currently, but I have received little to no response from any group. I know everywhere is full and intake flow never stops, but if we can find a group that can take even one every few months, that would make a huge impact.
Here is a picture of Gatsby, the shelter’s longest resident. He has been at the shelter for 80 DAYS!!! He is heartworm positive. He is a wonderful dog— loves all other dogs and people. And somehow, he is still sitting in a small kennel. We need more help trying to save babies like him! Please give me all your recommendations!!
