My husband and I are a same-sex couple. I am currently in the UK, and he is in Egypt. Because of the legal situation in Egypt, we cannot marry there. We are thinking about getting married in Utah contry online zoom and then using that marriage certificate for a UK spouse visa application.
I wanted to ask whether a Utah marriage certificate is accepted by UKVI for a spouse visa in a case like ours. Has anyone here successfully used a Utah marriage certificate for a UK visa application as a same-sex couple? Were there any problems with the application, or anything specific we should include as evidence?
I would also really appreciate any advice on:
- whether UKVI accepts Utah marriages for same-sex couples,
- what documents we would need to prepare,
- whether being in different countries affects the application,
