Hey everyone, I started flipping power tools about a month ago and wanted to see if anyone else here is doing something similar. I started with around $200 and have worked it up to about $500 just reinvesting locally. Nothing crazy, but it’s been consistent so far.

Right now I’m mostly buying from Craigslist and selling on Facebook Marketplace, plus the occasional garage sale. Local pickup seems to be where the margins are. Craigslist has been better for sourcing since sellers feel more motivated, and Facebook is better for selling because of the volume. Newer cordless tools move fast, older battery stuff not so much. I’ve also had better luck breaking bundles apart and just focusing on moving things quickly.

Biggest headache by far is flaking and trying to lock in pickup times. Feels like half the battle is just getting someone to actually show up. Curious how others are doing this. Are you mostly local or shipping, and what platforms have been working best for you?

Hey everyone, hope this is the right place to ask this.

I’ve recently gotten into the dangerous hobby of bargain-hunting secondhand tools while also trying to clear space in my shop for the next round of “great ideas.”

Is Craigslist and FB Marketplace basically where everyone’s still doing this online?

From the seller side, I keep getting the classic “is this available?” followed by complete radio silence, or people locking in a pickup time and then vanishing into the void. From the buyer side, I’m also seeing a lot of listings priced like $5 under retail with zero warranty, which makes me wonder who that deal is for.

Curious where you all are actually buying/selling used tools these days and whether this is just part of the game or if there are better spots I should be watching.
