Hello I just recently found this happened to me with the series ironically called ‘LOST’ that was aired in the 2004-2008 era I believe. I remember exactly where I bought it when I made my 2nd digital TV series purchase of the whole series after game of thrones season 4 was coming out in the month of January 2015.
I even recently looked at it again in Nov 2025 and have watched it on Amazon at least 4 separate times on Amazon prime during the last 11 years.
There was a commercial my mom and I saw on TV back in 2009-2010. This commercial oddly spoke of ‘you will own nothing and like it’ and it didn’t even have a reference of what it was advertising. It was literally telling the viewer that this was going to happen.
I spoke to a supervisor named Greg at Amazon digital department today at 2:30Pm CST and him saying that as of 2 days ago there are thousands of complaints coming in of customers reporting the same issues with other digital content.
I noticed strange issues of my digital content missing or needing to be searched in a specific manner as if it was under a different digital sku # or what I do not know. But these are shows and movies I have owned for 6-12 years.
This is an issue about video games now too. Technically you could purchase a game but you do not own it. They can shut down licensing or servers at any point and time. And you must digitally download it on your console but you cannot even play the game’s content on the CD disk anymore. You MUST download it. It’s on every console platform. My boyfriend and I noticed that my video games and his video games are still doing updates for video games that are going on 11+ years old (super smash bro’s or Mario kart, animal crossing) without any real updates being made. They are absolutely no reasons or even explanations on what the updates are for.
There was a ma who could not sue Disney after his wife died because of having purchased or in technicality terms ‘rented’ a subscription service of Disney+. So he was not even able to receive compensation of his wife’s unfortunate death at the Disney park because it was under the terms and conditions.
When are people going to start getting angry enough to actually do something about this ridiculousness on money hungry people who will find any reason to charge you or recharge you for basic living and traditional workings on how a purchase transaction is suppose to work.
Honestly there should be a Supreme Court case about this bullshit.
