Tables

Jayco Mystery machine side quest 1!

Is there a way to get the tables more secured? It seems like mine is very easily knocked out of its bracket. With 2 crazy kiddos, I foresee entire meals magically hitting the floor in a chaotic heap.

Have any of you done such a thing, and if so, how?

I just typed all this up once and now I’m sad bc I have to do it again bc I navigated out of the app and it went poof. (I only recently started actually posting on Reddit, previously it was a mostly unused app somewhere on my phone and I have no idea how it works either.)
My pop-up knowledge is about the same size as my Reddit knowledge 🤪

Ok. Today is the first day I’ve been able to get into this beast, the weather has cleared, the meetings and medical appointments have lessened and I’m ready to start nibbling away on my pop up fixer-upper by a complete NOOB project. I’ll be here relatively often I suspect, but I’ll be going slow bc hEDS and arthritis suck.

Any advice is welcome, but I won’t scrap the project bc that’s nowhere near as fun as figuring things out and creating Frankenstein’s monster out of a mystery machine. 🤭
Thanks to anyone who comes along on the journey.

Today’s batch of questions:

Pics 1-3 the door(s)
Is this where things should line up or is something here mismatched? I always thought the top section of door must go to a different model, and it occurred to me as I typed this that maybe the door isn’t the issue, but the canvas is the thing that doesn’t fit… but I’ve no idea bc I’m a noob.

Looking for recommendations on how to make this a sealable door. (There’s a wee bit of Velcro near the top, but that’s it.)

Pic 4 Electrical

Is there a schematic somewhere that tells me where do they come from and where do they go?
Do I need to inspect every inch of wire or just worry about it if something starts misbehaving?

Pic 5 Railing? (Looking up between the interior side of the roof and the canvas.)

There’s white plastic ‘railing’ for lack of a better term. I found it today while I was sewing a tear in the canvas prior to applying the patch. It’s cracked to hell.
What is this stuff called, what is its purpose, and is it vital?
Is there an alternative I can or should use?

Pic 6 Interior slide receptacle for the rod/pole/arm keeping the canvas up over the beds posing as a rust test in progress.

Any idea on how to remove the rust from the canvas (and from the metal, bc I’m pretty sure if I try to replace it I’ll have to do the roof now instead of later and I currently can not.)

ETA: once we pull the bed on my left (as it would be in the pics), the canvas has a gap at the door about 4-5” wide this was another reason I thought maybe something isn’t “right”.

Random dripping thing of doom.

This is under the sink iirc (was only inside once for a few minutes before we shut it down and covered it up bc rain.)

We got a Jayco fixer upper and I’m looking forward to learning all the things I’m going to need to know, but there are things I have no clue where to begin. I can’t tell what model it is, all I have to work with is 1986 Jayco. There’s a plate on the frame it may have once had information, but it’s completely blank now. It’s had work, and it needs more, but boy I jumped right in without thinking. 😅

When measuring the length of these things, do we include the tongue?

I think if we get the canvas wet it might stretch a bit maybe? Currently it can’t reach the door. Option 2 we have frankenpopper and the door doesn’t fit.

I was planning to sew the tear but the algorithm gods say patches are a better idea, which makes sense.

What do we use to fix tears/cracks in the plastic of the windows?

Replacing the canvas entirely is not in the current budget, nor is a complete roof rebuild, though I see those being needed soon.

Any tips on how to go about fixing (redneck patch ups accepted in the moment) a mystery model pop up are appreciated.

Edit to add I also need to learn how to fix the cord that holds up the bar at one corner, so any suggestions on where to find that info would be appreciated.
