I live in the same city as my parents. My husband and I have two children ages one and two. I keep two pack and plays setup at all times at my parents as I will visit them on weekends that my husband works. Recently, my sister had a baby and has been visiting and using the pack and plays that I have setup at my parents. She’s been using a special attachment for newborns that raises up the bottom board so they are closer to the top. I have no problem with her using them. Recently my parents took both of my children overnight for the first time without me around. When I went to pick them up the next day, I noticed that my parents took out the top attachment and bottom board and just put a blanket on the bottom of the pack and play. Since there was nothing hard on the bottom, my son slept on rails all night. When I asked them why they didn’t put the board on the bottom, my dad told me that I should have put the bottom board in before leaving. To be clear- I have had these setup at my parents house since the day each of my children were born and it was not an issue until my sister started using them. I was upset and said I’m taking away the attachment that raises the bottom board so that this does not happen again. Hours later, my dad dropped off the pack and plays in my garage and left. When I called him to tell him that the attachments are still at his house, just in the basement, he told me that he doesn’t care and I could shove the pack and plays up my a$$.

I genuinely do not know if I overreacted and deserved this or my parents did? They took away the only place for my children to sleep when they visit. I didn’t yell at them for having my child sleep on rails. I just took the attachment (that is mine) out of the rooms that raises the bottom board higher up for an infant so it wouldn’t happen again. I don’t have a strong relationship with my parents for multiple reasons and the only time they see my kids is if I bring them over.

My sister could have still used them, it just didn’t have the attachment anymore so the baby would sleep at the standard height level.
