I (29m) went on a first date with a girl (25f) I’d been talking to for about a 2 weeks. She was very engaged beforehand — daily texts, even admitted she had been checking my profile.
The date itself felt really good. We were at a bar, talking, laughing, playing music, singing along. She kept saying she was having a great time and even stayed out later than she had planned. I suggested brunch for the next week and said she'd love to do that.
However, about 2 hours in, she brought up that my ex had followed her on Instagram shortly after I followed her (like 30 minutes). I said I’d heard my ex had been checking my followers and that it was kind of weird. she originally said that she wasn't too bothered by it but she's like other girls might not be as cool with it but you know it is a little weird.
Dropped her off, she said again she had a great time.
Next day, she texts saying she had fun but is getting more of a “friend vibe.”
I’m confused because:
she seemed very interested before and during
the date felt like a strong vibe
she kept saying she was enjoying herself
she agreed to future plans
Wondering if it was lack of spark, the ex situation, or both.
TL;DR:
Great first date with strong vibe, brings up that my ex followed her shortly after i did on insta mid-date, next day she says “friend vibe” and stops replying. Not sure what caused the switch.
