Recommendations for an amp for a beginner interested in metal?

Looking for my son's birthday. He just started playing guitar a few months ago and I am getting him a guitar and accessories for his 17th birthday. Any recommendations?

We know absolutely nothing about them yet. Right now he has a little mini one he got from amazon, but I'm assuming he should get a better one for home and just use that one at his school club. We are thinking of getting him a Jackson JS Series Dinky Arch Top JS32Q DKA HT Electric Guitar.

Also, looking for a good gig bag that's decent protection without being too expensive. Not sure at this point whether he needs backpack straps for it. The one he's borrowing has backpack straps, but he always has his backpack on anyway and tends to just carry it to school.

Help please!

My son is turning 17 and recently started learning to play electric guitar. I want to buy him one for his birthday but there is a lot of nuance between models and am not sure what would be best for him. He decided against the v shape.

He definitely is interested in heavy metal sounds but will be learning to play basic rock and alternative also.

Not sure if he should have active or passive pickups or if he should have a floating bridge or Floyd Rose bridge. I don't think he knows at this point either. We are total noobs here. He seemed a bit intimidated by the Floyd Rose bridge when the store guy briefly mentioned it. We know active pickup has a 9v battery but that's about it.

I want to get him a decent starter one that maybe he can grow into, thinking of price range $250-$600.

I would LOVE to get some recommendations!!
