Delicious hybrid dragon fruit
I see dragonfruit get a lot of hate online, and I think I understand why—they are mild, often expensive, and (when shipped to mainland US, or elsewhere in the temperate world) often not in the best condition when purchased. I live in the tropics, and even I don’t buy them that often, due to the cost. However: when I see this hybrid variety (either “Frankie’s Red,” or something similar) I always snatch a couple up. Truly a delightful fruit, they remind me of a mild raspberry sorbet. Very high Brix, sweet like candy, with a distinct fruity flavor reminiscent of berries.
Pictured with mangosteen and lychee. Breakfast of champions.
