Hello everyone, I need help as I am having conflicting advice from two electricians. I swapped out my old outlet for a GFCI in my second bathroom. When I removed the old outlet there were four wires attached and one ground. So two neutral wires and two hot wires and a ground. The old outlet had two hot wires attached to the right side and two neutral wires attached to the left side. So when I installed my new GFCI outlet I did the same wiring plan. Two hot wires on the right and two neutral wires on the left. I then connected the ground wire and pushed the outlet back into the wall. Now, when I turns the power back on and test it, the outlet was not producing any power. I pulled the outlet back out and tested the hot wires and there was electricity running to it but when an outlet was plugged in, nothing would turn on.

So, I spoke to an electrician, he said it was wired wrong. I was told to plug in both hot wires into the same gold screw line and both neutral wires into the same silver screw line. I did this and pushed the outlet back in. I turned the power back on and tested it. Item are now receiving power when I plug them in. But when I used a pin tester, every outlet socket is testing hot.

I will attach photos of how the old outlet let was and then both ways I connect the outlet for reference. Thank you in advance for any advice
