We purchased this house that has a ton of beautiful trim work. I have no idea how to decorate around it. I’m trying to make the house a little more cohesive. Our kitchen has large navy blue cabinets with antique brass pulls and a large island with dark stained butcher block counter top. Therefore, was thinking of adding a big blue rug and some pictures behind the couch with blue accents but it still feels off to me. How do I incorporate those colors to this area without making it feel smaller?

The couches are new, leather, but covered due to dogs. Prefer not to change those out. I like the coffee table but can move it to another room if needed.

I know the fan needs to get changed out, it’s too big for the space.

First picture is one half of the living room and the second is the other half which has 2 built-in cabinets around French doors.

Any help is much appreciated!
