I know I must not be the first one to go through this but I can’t finish a song because I end up hating for many reasons, but I think the main of the reasons it’s probably the lack of originality. So I always try to write music on the guitar and I end up getting a simple chord progression but I’m unable to make a creative melody out of it and neither I can add more chords to that same progression. I’m a huge beatles and Paul McCartney fan and sometimes I listen to melodies like penny lane or the backseat of my car and I can’t understand how Paul could come up with something like that. I know songwriting takes a lot of time to get good at it and a lot of try and error but from all the times I’ve tried (I’ve been trying to write for many years) I only finished like less than 10 songs and I always end up discarding and forgetting about em because I dislike them. How do you guys overcome this situation?
