TLDR: Quit after a fast taper from a year of daily use and 3 days after my last dose I’m getting slammed with severe one sided leg pain, deep bone aches, and lower back pain way more than actual restless legs. Has anyone else had kratom withdrawal show up like this? Did anything help?
I made a post a few days ago just wondering what life actually looks like without kratom. At that point I was near the end of my taper and honestly thought I was handling it pretty well.
Now I’m about 3 days out from my last dose (I think my final dose was 1.5g), and this has hit me way harder than I expected.
The biggest issue has been intense pain in my right leg. Not so much classic restless legs, but deep bone pain, muscle aches, and this almost burning discomfort that feels like it goes straight through me. Last night I slept maybe 2 hours. When I woke up around 6am my leg actually wasn’t too bad, but now my lower back is absolutely on fire.
For context, I used daily for about a year, usually 14–17gpd once a day. I did a really fast taper with what I had left because I just wanted to be done.
What’s messing with me mentally is that I genuinely did not expect to get hit this hard. My dose wasn’t insanely high compared to some people, and a year felt short enough that I thought maybe it wouldnt be this brutal. But here I am. One thing that may be making this worse, I’ve had 4 major surgeries on my right leg from an old injury, and somehow this pain feels worse than parts of that recovery. It’s honestly scaring me a little.
Ibuprofen isn’t touching it. Baths help, but only while I’m in them. Walking helps, but only while I’m actively walking. The second I stop, it all comes back.
The nights are by far the hardest. There have been multiple moments where I’ve seriously considered driving to some random gas station at 3am just to make this stop. But I keep trying to remind myself that if I cave now, I’m probably just restarting the clock.
I guess I’m posting because I really need perspective. Has anyone else had withdrawal show up more as intense one sided leg pain and back pain instead of typical restless legs? Did anything actually help, even temporarily?
Right now I just need to know this passes, because in the middle of the night it really starts to feel endless.
