Hi! wanted to get opinions. My 6 1/2 month son had a recent vet visit and I left feeling like…he is getting stereotyped.
Red flag #1 they wanted me to give him 400 mg of Trazodone over 12 hours. He was puking and so out of it for a full day. Homeboy still had some energy when he got to the vet bc….he’s an ACD and just loves everyone and all pets. and one of the assistants made a snarky comment about me not giving him the meds. i, a human who weights more than double his weight was only prescribed 50 mg lol.
Red Flag #2 he has to get his ears swabbed after getting treated for a mild ear infection. He did not bite but he is squirmy and let out a soft little growl. he just doesn’t like other people outside his mom and dad messing with his ears. at the end of our visit the vet mentioned that he left a note about muzzling him next time. i sat with it for a day and i cannot empathize how sweet this dog is. he has been around babies, cats, older folks, all different types of dogs and he genuinely just loves to love.
I just feel kinda icky and wanted to see if these are actual red flags or i am just being sensitive. If this is icky any tips for finding a new vet or similar experiences?
*for context he is our first heeler. we moved so he had a different vet when he was getting his vaccines. second time going to this vet office. he is on the bigger end weighing in at 47 pounds. obviously mischievous with the people he sees often but an absolute ham with everyone else.
enjoy the puppy pic tax :)
