So I bought myself a small pu-erh green tea cake, just to try it out and see if it might suit my taste. And I realized I don’t really know how to go about it, so I’m asking for suggestions on how to actually brew it to get the best taste out of it.
I usually brew my tea in a strainer (directly in mug or in a teapot). I don’t own a gaiwan, so that is currently out of a question. Should I just throw a piece in teapot to steep and strain afterwards to let flavor develop better?
How much must tea cake piece be broken dow? Suggested water to tea ratio? Knowing water temperature and brewing time for this type of tea cake would be great. Does it need to be “rinsed” before steeping, how many resteeps can usually be made, things like that. Tea cake is aged 5 years, if it makes a difference.
