What's going on with Miliastra Wonderland and controllers?

I had asked this in the Genshin sub because I didn't realize Wonderland had its own sub. Figured I'd ask here to see if I could get more insight.

I play on the PS5, so naturally, I use a controller when I try out Wonderland games. I'm trying to figure out why so many of them (not all) have controller inputs that make no sense.

This has got to be something to do with the game making process, right? Is Hoyo not giving enough documentation on exactly what these buttons mean on a controller? Are some buttons locked to specific functions and can't be changed?

Sometimes, I get it. The person making the game likely plays exclusively with a keyboard and mouse, or maybe even on their phone, so they don't know aiming with the right stick while attacking with one of the face buttons is awkward as hell with a controller. Easy mistake to make.

Other times, it feels like they're just picking buttons at random. Played one game where you steer a cart left and right to avoid obstacles on a straight path. Fun game, but the controls were to move left, hit left, and to move right, hit DOWN. There's another game I really enjoy and play frequently, but get frustrated every time I see "accept" and "cancel" are BOTH L1+left.

Speaking of L1, I've seen so many games where the majority of the controller inputs were L1+something else. Now I understand a controller has far less buttons than a keyboard, but that excuse only works when you've run out of buttons. I've seen many games that use L1+direction button, but never actually touch the plain direction buttons.

Does Hoyo need to include a better tutorial on how to set up for controllers, or are makers picking random buttons just so they can mark their game as being playable with them? It does feel like controllers are an after thought in general for Wonderland. The inventory/store screen that I've seen many games use is a nearly unusable with a controller because half the time there's no visual indicator of what I've highlighted in the menu.
