First-Time Oriental Breed Mama Jitters

Hi friends! I hope it’s okay to post here. I have an Oriental longhair (outcross girlie) from a lovely breeder (Kokiri). She has travelled all the way from New York to Atlantic Canada to join our little family. Her name was Maddie but since I’m also Maddie to family/friends/coworkers we call her Audley now and it seems to get her attention :)

How long did your babies take to trust you? Especially if you got them as adults (she is 1.5 years old). She is eating her meals in her “welcome room” like a champ and I’m in regular contact with her breeder to provide updates. I just love to get some reassurance from other owners when possible (I come from the purebred dog world, though cats suit our lifestyle better so we currently have 1 other domestic shorthair at home). She won’t yet eat in front of me and usually hides when I go in. But it’s also only day 3. She’s also using the litter box, yay!

ETA: the photo was taken at the cattery before she joined us - we do have that same cat wheel now that will be available for her to use when she’s feeling braver/exploring outside of her room. Our domestic girl is already sniffing it, haha.
