EXCITING UPDATE on the Malden Riverworks Project this Thursday, April 30th - Malden Senior Center 5:30PM-7:00PM.
You may have driven by the DPW site and wondered what was going on- come hear the exciting news! The Malden River Works project brought together one of the most diverse community coalitions - including residents, environmental advocates, and government stakeholders to create Malden's first-ever public riverfront park!
One of the most important aspects of the project is the upgrade of the City's Department of Public Works (DPW) for environmental sustainability and climate change. As a Board Member of the Mystic River Watershed Association I know how important it is for city engineers to work on nature-based solutions to improve water quality. From infiltration trenches to saving our wetlands- it all addresses climate risks.
I can’t wait for this project to be completed (this summer) and to place our canoe and kayak in the water from a Malden access point!
I just wanted to apologize. I have no idea why there were multiple posts of my announcement. I think it has something to do with my new phone, but in any case that wasn’t on purpose!

This evening, I attended the special meeting of the school committee, where the two final candidates for the interim Northeast Metrotech school committee position were interviewed.
Both nominees brought impressive experience and would serve Malden well. Committee members posed insightful questions, and ultimately, Sean Salazar was selected. His extensive background in the trades, experience working with large budgets combined with his current role working directly with students as the hospitality management instructor at Everett High School, set him apart.
Sean demonstrated a deep knowledge of current trends and programs which will make him an asset to the school committee.
Congratulations to Sean—he is sure to make Malden proud!
