I’ve been quietly following whisky forums for a few years now, and it felt like the right time to contribute something in return, given how much this community has helped shape my own choices.
I have tried to search for a review regarding this bottle for months now. I couldn’t even find information on it on their official website either.
This is my first ever review on a bottle of whisky, so please take it with a grain of salt. Here goes nothing:
Price paid: 66.29 € / $ 77,74 (700 ml)
What is it: This is Glenfarclas latest anniversary edition (if I’m not mistaken), the 48^(th) edition. The packaging states a limited run of 6.000 bottles. Mine was bottled in June 2024.
Region: Speyside
ABV: 48%
Nose: Figs, prunes, apricot, sweet, a hint of caramel and vanilla. Very distinct and lovely, never had such a beautiful bouquet of aromas before.
Palate: First sip you’re hit by a silky sweetness, but not too oily. Notes of malted barley, honey, grapes, hazelnut and a bit of oak.
Finish: Medium. Tobacco, leather, oak, a hint of dark chocolate, some mild spices like pepper and a touch of freshly cut grass.
Overall: I quit like it. For me it is something fresh, new and exciting. If you can manage to put your hands on one of these bottles, I am highly recommending it.
Score: 7.5 / 10 (my first Glenfarclas mind you)
